Smile Boxes/Birthday Boxes FAQ
Where do the Smile Boxes come from?
Our Smile Boxes are 10”x10”x4” boxes made from paperboard which makes the box 100% recyclable. Our boxes are made and distributed within the United States. We purchase them online through a manufacturer in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Are the mascot animals made/purchased overseas?
Our mascot animals are hand crocheted by WigglySee in Atlanta, Georgia. They are crocheted in a smoke/pet free environment with high quality yarn. The eyes on our mascot animals are sewn on as well as Larry’s blue hat. Nothing is glued on so that we ensure every child is able to receive a mascot from us without worry of presenting a risk of chocking or allergies.
How much do the boxes cost?
The boxes are free to order. Families and friends are welcome to order for children that have a chronic/terminal illness, battling cancer or disease. We do not limit the amount of times one child may receive a box. We're in this for the smiles!! =) We also encourage hospitals to order as well and hope to partner with all Children's Hospitals in the near future. To fund our boxes we rely on sponsorships, monetary & non-monetary donations, fundraisers and our own money to fund the Smile Boxes for these amazingly brave children.
Is there a difference in the Smile Box & the Birthday Box?
Yes. The difference is the how you receive one and what comes in them. Our Smile Boxes are themed boxes that we offer online free of charge to the families that have children who are suffering from a chronic or terminal illness/disease, or battling cancer. Our Birthday Boxes are available by registering a child with the same criteria as stated above on our Birthday Registry online. After registering a child and their information is confirmed, we will send that child one of our Birthday Boxes on their special day. Families are encouraged to re-register the child year after year so they can enjoy a Birthday Box from us on each of their birthdays.
